A little favor

So after playing on the latest version of Riftland server for a while I have noticed one thing that server needs: more new players. (It is essential if you want to see the server with more players online and not to feel forever alone..)

Not everyone has the time or ideas to advertise it, but as a little help in making Riftland better known around the web I would like to ask You, the player of Riftland, to spend a tiny minute of your time (which you have enough) and contribute to making a change.

What is the PST:GMT/EU ratio? If it's not too far from 1:1, I guess you could try putting up a Riftland related status during that timezone.

We need to offer incentives for voting. I used to play on a server that offered 900gp for voting 3 times. Everyday I would vote and buy 9 diamonds at the admin-shop. I did this everyday before I played. We just need to get people into a habit of voting.

If you had a brain Charzar30 you would know that I am not saying we do that exact thing. I am saying that we need to implement some form of incentive to get people to vote. Maybe not nine diamonds but we do need to give them a reason to actually want to vote.

I had to stop myself from making a joke about religion... and i do have a brain...no reason to be a wee little cocksucker D: anywho you shoulda just said that they implemented a form of reward instead of specifically saying 9 diamonds...

The point I was trying to make was the fact that most people are not going to vote just because it's good for the server. We need to offer them something.

What can we offer players for voting?

1. Diamonds

I think DDS was able to find three sites that register with votifier. For each site a player votes on they receive one diamond? That will turn out to 3 diamonds per day per one player. "Won't this ruin the world economy?" you may ask? I don't see why it would. Most players can obtain 3 diamonds in a matter of minutes. Why not spend those few minutes promoting the server instead and receive the same reward?

2. Cold hard cash

I really don't have much of an idea about the amount we could offer. I think that the cash flow that this would create would actually be good for the server.

3. Rank advancements

Perhaps you could tie voting into receiving the rank "regular" or even offer another rank after that.
For this rank each player would have to spend x amount of time on the server and have voted x amount of times. This would be not be the best situation however. Once players receive their rank advancement they would have no reason to vote.

Maybe rank advancement then diamonds? Like they vote x amount of times to reach a rank then when they do each time they vote again they get a diamond (or GP).

Rest assured folks, I am working on this and it will roll out before the end of the weekend..

I was thinking more of a point system because having a balance is quite nice and it changes trading a bit.

What each player get is a vote point balance and each time they vote they get lets say 1/2 points. These points can then be spent on a diamond or cash or at a very high amount of points an additional /home. Also restrict the ability to attain these points every 12/24 hours so people can only get the points via this system every 12/24 hours.

E.g for vote point shop

1 point = 10gp
5 points = diamonds
10 points = 200gp
25 points = 1 sponge
50 points = 1500gp
60 points = 2 sponges
100points = +1 home

Also maybe if the voting system you can enter a character name to vote for so people can "buy" votes. This allows free player access to VIP commands without paying and at a reasonable time/cost.
