Troubleshooting the Launcher Empty Troubleshooting the Launcher

Post by seifpic Fri Aug 02, 2013 11:06 pm

As most of you might know, I am the developer of the Riftland Launcher. And as I've seen many people experiencing problems, I am making a thread specifically for Launcher issues. Here are some methods to troubleshooting the launcher:
JAVA:
Before you do anything having to do with troubleshooting, make sure you download the latest version of Java using THIS link.
I need to stress this especially if you're on a Mac because the version of Java that is included with OSX is outdated even if you have the latest OSX.
If you're on Windows, download the 64-bit version of Java if you have a 64-bit OS and the 32-bit if you have a 32-bit OS.

UPDATE:
You must have the latest version of the Launcher to update the Riftland client. You can download the latest version from THIS link.

A VITAL COMPONENT IS MISSING, PLEASE CONSULT THE FORUM:
If you get this message, then try giving the launcher a second or two when you open it so it could finish the checks necessary. If the issue still persists, then your Riftland directory is somewhat corrupt. To fix this, do the following:
Windows:
Macintosh:

IF YOU STILL HAVE PROBLEMS:
Post your problems as a reply to this topic. Please put as much detail in as you can. You must include the following in your post:
 - Version of Java you're running. You can get this by typing out "java -version" in a command prompt or terminal window.
 - Which version of the launcher you're running. If you have a recent version, the version should be displayed on the bottom left of the launcher window.
 - Which version of the launcher you're using (Windows, Mac, Cross-OS).
 - What OS you're running. And if you're on windows whether you're on a 64-bit or 32-bit version.
 - Error messages (if any).

I hope this topic has helped you. If you have any questions and or problems, please reply to this topic. Also note: the modpack, server, and launcher are still in Beta. And the Mac version of the launcher might not run correctly, if it doesn't, then try out the Cross-OS version.
