I wanna build a cheap gaming pc but i dont know what parts to get. Could anyone help me choose?

im just starting to learn about pc's. i wouldnt have a clue where to start trying to oc something

iv just spoke to a friend and he has an old tower he doesnt use. would it be possible to upgrade it?

Why would you give away a I7 =OO The cheapest i can find one of those is £160

He didnt know what he had in the pc so i had a look. I could only make out a Intel Processor (I think its an old one) and an ATI Graphics card (Couldnt tell the model).

because the I7 is broken and only uses 2 cores out of 8 making it useless for hard tasks
it's the old one after my laptop went all firework (or firedontwork :lol: ).

If you want to customize the PC, don't buy a pre-built. It will be a waste of money and warranties are generally better on individual parts anyway.
