PvP Protection

Allright.. Some people are complaining about PvP and here is a solution..

• Newbie Protection

- It lasts 48 hours and you can disable it with a command..
- You can not attack or get attacked by other players.

• Buy-able PvP Protection

- You can buy PvP protection by a command/from spawn.
- You have to play protection for an amount of time
- You can disable protection by using a command but you won't get your money pack.
- You can not attack or get attacked by other players.

(1 hour / 200 GP should be fine isn't it ?)

Simple solution but it might work.


Edit :

Maybe protection for your last life that lasts for 20 minutes ? This might be hard to add though.

I already said this but I think towns should be safe areas as well

Leave PVP alone. Just turn it off in the Dragon island. I haven't tested this but is pvp enabled in a sponge protected area? If it is I think that should be turned off.

Pvp should be turned off in sponged areas and towns. Dragon island should be free for all. After all last person to hit the dragon goes to nether not all.

Just my thoughts

I think the island is being changed to be more group friendly.

personally i think thats dumb if you wana keep the nether population low and the item prices high then killing and stealing dragon is a good idea...

What about removing PvP at all ?

Sorry Dan but adding purchasable PvP protection is just another crutch for players who die a lot. You never really run out of lives unless you're really really awful.

keep pvp on, nether, sponged areas, the end, the island and normal world.
stop making enemies instead!

~24-48 hours PvP protection for new players is not a bad idea after all.

Over time (hopefully) there will be more players coming to the server and of course later some of them will decide to kill newbies by camping near spawn or following them out of the spawn protected area. This would make a lot of new players feel powerless as they would not be able to defend themselves and the only thing they could choose would be to leave the server. Moreover they would not invite their friends to play here or recommend the server to anyone and that would make a huge impact on the server community growth rate. I guess I don't need to explain why small amount of new players is bad not only for the server but also for every player who is already playing here.


Buy-able PvP protection either should be very expensive or for very limited amounts of time. In-game currency will experience devaluation as there are already some players which could easily gain huge amounts of money just by selling a part of their resources and dis-balance whole price system. So, whatever would be the price, it won't be good enough to make things equal for all players as the rich ones would be able to buy protection for long periods of time and others won't be even able to buy it for a day. Cons of this protection would be not being able to get rid of intruders, players would not be able to stop others from griefing their property (if it is unprotected) and many other ways of annoying people... After all there is survival world and creative world, so if a player (not a newbie) can't find a way not to be killed or attacked all the time, he should think if survival world is suitable for him.


TL;DR: Newbie PvP protection is needed. Buy-able PvP protection - not (it would be over powered).
