Server down?

I have no experience beyond this server with online minecrafting, so I am just guessing here.

I think the server must have started hanging this evening, I have tried to log on many times, all of which bring me to what seems to be a black starry screen wherein I appear to be infinitely falling. No teleports or commands seem to work and I am not even getting the login screen.

Just want to make sure that this is the case and it's not on my end.

Are you getting a secure connection?

i just tried to log in and only one green bar is showing i get on and the lag is so bad it get booted

I'm not sure what that means. Everything is perfectly normal pretty much every time I log in, throughout the entire process I am doing nothing differently. This evening, instead of the regular login spawn point my screen loads to a specly blackness and I appear to be falling forever. I did get a java error on one attempt, but it was after the same process, only I clicked a whole bunch of random crap.

EDIT: Just tried again, went to blackness, about 15 seconds later the login spawn seemed to spontaneously load. I waited for about 30 seconds, no login popup, I logged in on the chat, pressed enter, waited for 30 seconds, nothing. Then the login popup appears out of nowhere and just before I click login I see the "You have logged in successfully" message behind the popup, as if the chat just acknowledged it. But then my login obviously failed because I was already logged in, so I hit quit accidentally.

After this my next attempt resulted in the same java error I got before, something about Java timing out.

i think its just extreme lag it is doing it to me too it probably a problem with the host.

i just checked in the portal for the server status it is offline now

The error message is:

Connection Lost

Internal exception: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out

Probably not useful but there it is.

I'm not sure about the lag, I'm looking into it now, but the crashing and downtime at the moment is due to the host website playing up.
