Cameraman

I have a rather odd suggestion... A cameraman account. This will be one account with the username cameraman and a password that can be requested. This account will have no perms except warps and flying (can't build/destroy anything). This would be an account so that whenever someone wants to record something (like in my case I'm making a trailer for the contest) they can use this account. Only regulars and up can have the password, (and for fun give him a cameraman skin ).

I for one think this would be a great idea. If you can't fly it's going to be hard to get good footage and if you can fly, you can get better angles of building and structures.

I'd honestly like to support this, but not have it open. Have it so you can request a time to keep the account

Hmmm, let's look at this from different point

Mmm, warping and flying is perfect for.... SPYING! People build walls because they don't want anyone to climb them. In example, "cameraman" is good to scout other towns, make tactical decisions or spot things that would take long to find with regular client.

On the other side, it's a good idea if it wouldn't be abused - people would be able to make very nice videos to represent the server and all of its features.

I do agree that the access to the account would be limited and only for some time, after requesting it from Enlighten and getting temporary password.

Like nSpr33 said , it's a good idea if it wouldn't be abused. But it won't happen..

To stop it getting abused you could just get someone to watch what the cameraman is doing. If he attempts to spy then ban him.

Well, Melon gave a good idea about banning the account when it's not in use, also Light might be able to access the password database IMO.

So whoever had the "cameraman" last and tried to use a trick like that or did any other bad thing should lose the chance to use it ever again.

Negative, it's coded in a way that makes it almost impossible for a server owner to see the passwords of people.


Anyways, I like this idea.

It's impossible to know someone's password from the database, however you can see the MD5 (or SHA-1, etc) encryption of the password (which enables to you to check with logs and etc.).
I'm not trying to be a dick lol, just saying...

hmmm this seems like a huge pain in the ass.... you could set barriers for the alloud area that he is able to travel by makeing another rank were he is not even able to enter the towny territorys...but they could probly still sneak a peak from 100 blocks away :/

On TOTAL i like the idea
few suggestions to improve it
1 - Limited areas
2 - Account changes password evrey hour
3 - Account only Accessed when Enlighten and /or DDSLOAN96 is online
4 - If all else fail , Maybe Enlighten or DDSLOAN96 can take the PIcture for you (Not Advised because sometimes You want the picture from a single Angle..

and About the towny thingy If the Camera man is caught near a town he's not Authroized to enter He shall get a 15day ban or a Perma Ban :O
Im saying that Ironicly tho xD my town has no walls ._.

Theres a problem with that, though. What if, like seif, the cameraman needs to record footage of a town? that that would prevent them from doing so

HE Can get Permission From Town owner / Assistant

I FOUND IT , The only way This could work is by using this Plugin http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/fly-payment/ Should be expensive tho !
