last time there was an infestation of bronies I eventually got them to leave, and ofcourse I wont shut up about them, every time I enter a thread on this forum I get them shoved in my face with all the pictures.

The first example that comes to mind is the Church of Scientology. Many people jumped on this bandwagon and ended up having their lives ruined and their banks emptied by the insane occultist church. The public sees what is going on and doesn't like is, so a group of true heroes, also known as Anonymous, take matters in to their own hands. After much struggle, hacktivism, protesting and leaking documents to the media it becomes very clear that the church is a cancerous entity and it needs to be stopped. If it weren't for the dedication of Anonymous the Church of Scientology would not be well known as a complete scam and a waste of time.
This is a fair approximation because the people who joined the church were making a choice. This poor choice was likely influenced by a lack of knowledge, and if the people who joined the church were given the correct information beforehand, they would have probably avoided it.
That is what I do, I educated people who have made poor choices.
