Giant spawning?! Empty Giant spawning?!

Today, it was night and I was walking through a dessert when I suddenly saw this:
Giant spawning?! New
So I want to know, is this supposed to happen and if not, has anyone seen one too?
And could it be fixed if it is a bug?

Giants are supposed to spawn and drop emerald , 3 iron , chain helmet and 10 bones.

Figure their attack your own ^^

There is a rare chance of them dropping blazerods. I have two myself.

I haven't had them drop blaze rods in some time. Was after the last two updates?

They used to drop blazerods. It is removed.
