Since vince someone hasn't set my perms properly, I'm posting this here >_>


Riftland is in need of a new direction. Recently the Development team (yay we sound fancy) have been discussing said direction and we have concluded that we are going to put together our own Riftland modpack and Launcher! Very Happy

A selection of mods will be added enabling a more exciting and involved experience ingame (pssst missiles)

Thing is we maaaaay need a map reset. So we need your input. Understandably some of you will be anti-reset because of your builds and I'm not promising anything but there may be a method of transferring them across available.

As soon as we have a final modlist I shall post it here!

i say that we have a ratio of compensation for what people have had reset. towns = certain amount, + outposts, depending on size, etc.

or you guys can just say screw us and do whatever you want.

i can't see this solving any problems when there are nearly no players playing at riftland.

the problem is the lack of players on, not minecraft.

From what I understand, we are going to be using Voltz or some combo of similar mods. Voltz is incredibly popular right now and will be sure to attract more users. We are also working on a theme/story for the server. (basically an idea I had back in RR, but everyone was to much of a whore to listen.) It seems that basic vanilla mc is dead, everyone is interested in these mod packs now.

I don't want to give away too much since we are still not quite settled, but I think we are going to be making a custom Riftland modpack and a custom launcher (which I'm working on right now). Unless we use mods that change world generation (which we probably will) we will not need a map reset. If we do, I was researching a couple of hours ago and I might come up with a utility that will delete unmodified chunks and let them regen.

this server has tried to do magic with the little smalls thing, but we need something like thaumcraft, it would be amazing to have just that.

Not quite the same Razz Spout enabled custom items, yes, but with this we can have so much more.

We're thinking of having two factions - Alethkar and Lorath (Not giving any details yet) But one will be focused more on melee and honour and the other will be magic, intelligence and soul. This will add a story/RPG sort of element to the idea. Of course you don't HAVE to join a faction, and there will still be towns and the like, but it's going to be great! Very Happy

I think what Chell is trying to say is that we don't want to restrict certain features just because you chose a faction. I don't believe in class restrictions, people should be free to build their character in whatever fashion they desire.

Yes ^ And by the way "And the like" means other things of this sort.. perfectly good English >_>

Of course, there will be slight buffs and debuffs, but mostly on things like magic and conventional weapons. Machines and technology will more than likely not have any restrictions

i agree with delton. also, there should be some sort of home-area buff, like in your home cities... or home country, idk. also, i demand City NPC Armies/Guards. buy em with town money, and you can send them places with people. there are mods like that ive seen, it may cause a bit of lag, but just limit the amount available, or make it town size/age specific
